Company Bio – Filmscope Entertainment

Filmscope Entertainment is an Australian based production company that makes high quality, commercial genre films for worldwide audiences. The company’s most recent feature film, Needle (2010), a $3 million Supernatural Thriller, has met with great success internationally with sales agent Lightning Entertainment selling the film into over 82 countries including these key territories; Lionsgate for North America, Telepool for Germany, High Fliers for the United Kingdom, Playarte for Brazil and Shochiku for Japan.  Needle was released on 62 screens in Turkey where it landed at No.4 at the box office July 29th, 2011 and ran for 13 weeks. The film was acquired by Sony for Australia and had a limited theatrical run before its home entertainment release. Filmscope’s previous film, Crush, a $1.5 million Supernatural Thriller has also been sold in a number of territories worldwide including Phase 4 Films for North America, Stealth for the UK, Explosive for Germany, Playarte for Brazil and Horizon One for Australia.

John V. Soto is a Producer, Writer and Director with a passion for thriller, horror and sci-fi movies. He wrote and directed Needle in 2010, a Supernatural Thriller starring Ben Mendolsohn, Trilby Glover and Michael Dorman.  Needle has been sold in many countries worldwide and has won numerous awards at various film festivals including Best Cinematography and Best Special Effects at the British Horror Film Festival, and Best Makeup Special Effects at Screamfest and a slew of awards at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival where John won the Special Jury Prize. John also wrote and directed the movie Crush (2009), a Supernatural Thriller which also has performed well. John helped edit the trailer and it has since become a viral hit where it has amassed over 4.7 million views making it the most viewed Australian movie trailer of all time on You tube.

Deidre Kitcher (Dee) is a film Producer who has applied her broad business experience to help establish Filmscope Entertainment as a film production company with a focus on high concept, commercial genre films for worldwide audiences. She has produced Needle (2010) which had a budget of $3 million and Crush (2009) budget $1.5 million, along with the short Repulsion (2007). All feature films came in on budget and have been sold internationally in a slew of territories. Dee is a CPA accountant with a solid understanding of film production and legislation revolving around the Australian Producer Offset. Dee successfully claimed the Producer Offset for Needle in 2010.
