John Soto
John V. Soto is a film fanatic with a passion for the thriller and horror genres. In 2008 John wrote and co-Directed his first feature, CRUSH, a low budget ($1.5mil) supernatural thriller starring CHRISTOPHER EGANĀ. The film was released theatrically in Australia, before a successful DVD launch across Australia and New Zealand. Crush has been sold and released in numerous territories including North America, UK, Turkey, Middle-East, Malaysia, Brazil and Australia.
In early 2009 he co-wrote the script for NEEDLE, a Supernatural Murder Mystery. The script attracted some of the best acting talent Australia has to offer including; Ben Mendolsohn (Knowing), Michael Dorman (Daybreakers), Travis Fimmel (The Beast), Jane Badler (V series), John Jarrat (Wolf Creek)and Jessica Marais (Legend of the Seeker).
John directed NEEDLE late 2009 and the film completed post production in June 2010. Needle was selected for the BRITISH HORROR FILM FESTIVAL where it won Best Cinematography, Best Special Effects and Best Supporting Actress (Jessica Marais). The film was also chosen to screen at SCREAMFEST LA 2010 where is won Best Special FX make-up.
LIONSGATE acquired the rights for North America in December 2010 and the film has now been sold in over 81 countries including the key territories United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, France and the USA.
John has recently completed his latest script, VENGEANCE (2012), a highly innovative Psychological Thriller that is best described as “Memento” meets “Kalifornia”. The film is already generating interest from distributors worldwide and is expected to go into production late 2012.
Deidre Kitcher
Deidre (Dee) Kitcher B.Bus CPA PFP, a Financial Accountant, has applied her broad business experience to help establish Filmscope Entertainment as a film production company with a focus on high concept, commercial films made specifically for international markets.
In 2007 Dee produced a short film, REPULSION, a $20K film making experiment that taught her the fundamentals of film production and budgeting. In 2008 Dee successfully produced her first feature film, CRUSH, on budget and on time. She also assisted with the successful negotiation of a number of international deals for CRUSH in conjunction with their Sales Agent, Odin’s Eye Entertainment, that will provide investors with royalty returns for years to come.
Early 2009 Dee began the process of fundraising for Filmscope Entertainment’s next film, NEEDLE, a high concept thriller/horror film budgeted at $3 million. Late 2009 the required funds were successfully raised and NEEDLE entered pre-production, with the film being completed mid 2010. Needle has met with international success already being sold in 62 countries worldwide.
